Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Research Software Developer performs research and technology software development activities in support of WSU/ARC grants and contracts.

Minimum Qualifications

-U.S. citizenship
-Ability to get a TS/SCI clearance.
-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5 years experience developing software for stand-alone applications or web-based applications and/or web services.
-Excellent applied engineering, problem-solving and computational skills.
-Experience with multiple programming languages such as, Java, C, C++, C#, Python, or others.
-Ability to manage own tasks on multiple (potentially unrelated) projects at a time.

Preferred Qualifications

-Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
-Current TS/SCI Clearance
-Experience in rapid prototyping environment, or agile development environment desired.
-Experience developing mobile applications.
-Experience integrating hardware (such as various kinds of sensors) with existing software applications.
-Experience developing data visualization applications.
-Experience developing data analysis applications.
-Experience developing with JSON, SOAP, REST, and web services.
-Experience with and/or knowledge of D0D organizations and their missions.
-Experience developing software for secure/classified environments.
-Experience developing artificial intelligence applications.
-Experience with Image Generators (e.g. MetaVR, CryEngine, etc.)
-Experience with Matlab or R.

Essential Functions and percent of time:

50% – Develop software to support research and technology development needs.
Actively participate in developing computational system requirements based on project needs, develop algorithm designs based on requirements, rapidly implement algorithm designs into functioning software prototype code; efficiently and effectively document the development process and the results.

15% Provide analysis, evaluation, and recommendations designed to promote economy, efficiency, effectiveness and scalability of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and cyber software tools.

15% Interfaces with researchers, human factors professionals, cognitive systems engineers and scientists to provide simulation and testing tools in high-fidelity and immersive environments.

10% Configures and develops cyber or intelligence applications with emerging technologies (e.g. AR/VR, touch screens, 3D surround sound, tablets/ smartphones, or wearable technology).

5% Design, construct, and configure computer networks focused on supporting research and development environments, as well as production office environments. Be able to work with multiple types of networking equipment (Cisco, etc.) and multiple types of computing equipment (PCs, Apple, Linux, etc.).

5% Participate in project related analyses and evaluation efforts. Support the development of research proposals as needed.

Special Contract terms and conditions of employment apply. Length of contract is one year, renewable, contingent upon funding.
