Job Summary/Basic Function:

The successful candidate will assist with research investigating mathematics learning and mathematical reasoning. The lab currently has funding from the U.S. Department of Education (IES) to study mathematics learning by children.

Recruiting and data collection will involve interacting with school children, parents, teachers, and university students.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, mathematics (with an interest in mathematics learning and research), or a related field.

Intermediate skills in MS Office (including the ability to create, manipulate, and formulate spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, professional, and comfortable working in school settings.

Preferred Qualifications

Programming knowledge is a plus.

Prior research experience is preferable, but not necessary.
Experience working with children.

Essential Functions and percent of time:

- Responsibilities:
recruiting research participants (5%);
data collection (50%);
data entry/ management (20%);
monitoring of IRB compliance (5%);
managing student research assistants (10%); and assisting with the development of study material (10%).

Working Conditions

Individual will work on campus and off campus at area schools. He/she will need to use personal vehicle to perform job. He/ she must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass background check in order to work with children in area schools. Benefits are included. This position is contingent upon performance, research needs, and funding availability.

Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply. Length of contract is one year, renewable, contingent upon funding.
